We started as a fanzine in 1989, focusing on brazilian independent bands. In 1994 we debuted as a cassete label, being called “the pioneer audio-tape label in Brazil”. In 1997 we put out our first 2 CDs, and in the same year, launched this website. Nowadays midsummer madness is a record label, publishing and managment company. Rodrigo Lariú

Known as “the boss”, carioca, supports Vasco da Gama football team, born in 1973. Lariú worked at MTV Brazil and today is a free-lance TV producer. It’s him that you have to beg to like your music. [e-mail]

Rodrigo Letier

Know as “daddy”,another Vasco da Gama aficcionado, of course. Letier convinced Lariú in 1997 to turn midsummer madness a “proper label” by releasing its first CDs. He also is a TV producer and works at Tv Zero. [e-mail]

Marcos Rayol

Known as “VRS”, he is for Vasco, oh yeah. VRS played guitar in Pelvs’ begginings, released 2 eps by his band Aerowillys (released through mm) and is responsible for our audio technical quality. [e-mail]

FAQ

midsummer madness works with 2 different catalogs: eps and cds. Our cd catalog includes all our releases in CD since 1997 such as Pelvs, Astromato, The Gilbertos, Casino, Nervoso and some sold-out titles. The ep catalog includes everything we released since 1989, on cassete tapes and CDR. None of these titles were released on CD.

We will gradually include all titles from our ep catalog in this web site, and it doesn’t matter to us if the artist is still playing or if the band had quit. We are very proud of our catalog. If you want to know more about brazilian independent scene from 1989 on, take a tour on our band’s pages.

We are not an open website. So, don’t ask to include your band if you’re not on our cast.

We are interested in listening to your band. Just follow some rules:

1. 1.We don’t have any artistic pre-conditions to accept a band. We just have to like your music. It doesn’t matter if you sing in english or chinese, as long as your music is good.
2. 1.If you want to send us your music, please send only to this e-mail. We can accept one or two songs through email.
3. 1.If you preffer to send it through postal mail, use the address above. We do not return any material.
